The Vice President of Total Rewards is responsible for developing and executing an integrated Total Rewards strategy that enables the organization to attract, retain, and engage exceptional talent across a complex healthcare system. This executive oversees compensation, benefits, wellness, recognition, retirement programs, and executive compensation as parts of the holistic Total Rewards offering while ensuring market competitiveness, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and an outstanding employee experience.
This role partners closely with executive leadership, finance, operations, legal, and HR business partners to align Total Rewards programs with organizational strategy and workforce needs.
How you'll contribute
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Total Rewards strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Lead enterprise compensation and benefits philosophy and governance.
- Ensure programs support and enhance recruitment, retention, engagement, and workforce sustainability.
- Advise executive leadership on emerging market trends and workforce economics.
Compensation
- Design and administer executive, leadership, and employee compensation programs, and provide expert consultation for the physician services team on physician compensation.
- Lead annual compensation planning, market adjustments, and incentive programs.
- Oversee market benchmarking and salary structure design.
- Ensure compliance with Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Equal Pay regulations, Stark Law considerations, and healthcare-specific compensation requirements.
Benefits & Wellbeing
- Provide high-level oversight of health, welfare, retirement, leave, wellness, and recognition programs.
- Evaluate and regularly evolve benefit offerings and plan design to ensure competitiveness while managing costs.
- Partner with brokers and vendors to optimize program performance.
HR Operations & Analytics
- Develop dashboards measuring compensation competitiveness, benefits utilization, turnover, and ROI.
- Use workforce analytics to inform executive decision-making.
Financial Stewardship
- Develop and manage Total Rewards budget.
- Partner with Finance on labor cost forecasting.
- Evaluate financial impact of compensation and benefits decisions.
Team Leadership
- Lead Compensation and Benefits/HR Operations & Technology teams, with direct leadership of the broader Compensation team and through the VP of Benefits/HR Operations & Technology.
- Build functional capability and succession plans.
- Foster continuous improvement and operational excellence.

What we're looking for in this onsite role:
Education
- Bachelor's degree required
- Master's or other advanced degree preferred (HR, Business, Healthcare Administration, Finance)
Experience
- 12+ years progressive HR or other applicable leadership experience
- Significant Total Rewards leadership (within healthcare preferred but not required)
- Leadership of end-to-end Total Rewards in a complex, multi-site, multi-state enterprise strongly preferred
- Experience leading executive compensation programs
- Demonstrated experience implementing designing and delivering creative, pragmatic, and data-driven Total Rewards programs
