Position Summary:

Responsible for assisting Lead Staff with an ongoing program of activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child enrolled in a group.

Essential Functions
1. Follows weekly lesson plans and developmentally appropriate curriculum to nurture and stimulate each child’s individual growth and development.
2. Assists with providing a developmentally appropriate classroom environment to protect the child’s health and safety and enhance their learning.
3. Establish a positive relationship with each child’s family and share information about the child’s day as needed.
4. Maintains accurate, complete, and timely child and facility required records; daily attendance, weekly sign-in/out form, daily menu, daily meal counts, incident reports, and medication reports.
5. Reports any suspicions of child abuse to the Manager and Director.
6. Completes daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of the children.
7. Follows all requirements as directed by the North Carolina Division of Child Development, Environment Rating Scale, and Wilson County Health Department.
8. Assists with monitoring and providing daily food service and nutrition. Follows any special requirements related to food allergy and religious food preferences of children.
9. Assists with the supervision of volunteers ensuring all are kept up to date with matters concerning the classroom and program.
10. Keep the classroom clean and organized. Keeps all hazardous items in a locked cabinet. Keeps all items that could cause harm out of the reach of the children. Keeps playground free of trash and debris. Report any safety concerns in the classroom and/or playground to the Manager.
11. Transports children if approved with the Wilson Medical Center’s Approved Driver’s List and assigned to school-aged children.
12. Flexible in scheduling to meet the needs of the facility.

Minimum Education
A high school diploma or equivalent is required

Required Skills
Experience working in a licensed childcare center is preferred.
 
Required Licenses
Education Administrator
CPR, Pediatric First Aid, CRC Letter Qualifying to work in childcare, ITS SIDS (if working directly with children 12 months and younger, within 2 months of hire for all other staff).
BSAC if working directly with school-aged children.
