Nurse Apprenticeship Program:

The Nurse Apprenticeship Program plays a pivotal role in nurturing the development of our recent graduates by providing the essential knowledge and hands-on experience crucial for delivering competent and high-quality patient care. The program serves as a powerful tool for establishing mentorship and fosters a conducive work environment for the professional growth and retention of new nurses. All fulltime new graduate RN’s participate in our Nurse Apprenticeship Program, benefits include:

Unit Summary:

The Medical Surgical Unit provides medical oversight for patients with chronic or acute illness, and patients recovering from surgical procedures. One of our most fast paced units, Med/Surg can transfer or discharge more than 300 patients a month. 

Position Summary:

  • Coordinates staff scheduling, educational/development activities and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nursing, pharmacy and other healthcare team members/departments to determine, coordinate, and provide medical nutrition therapy.
  • Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of clinical services.
  • During tour of duty, maintains constant communication between all nursing areas and the registration area in order to facilitate a smooth through put of patients.
  • Provides basic direct patient care as needed.
  • Responds to all in hospital emergencies to guide and assure appropriate outcomes.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity
  • Understands and practices within the scope of practice as an RN.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Nursing, required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred
  • KY Provisional Nursing License
  • BLS within 30 days of hire 
  • ACLS within 1 year of hire
