Where We Are:

Los Alamos Medical Center is a community Hospital located in the beautiful mountain community of Los Alamos, NM, surrounded by the powerful Jemez Mountains.  Los Alamos is a health-oriented community that is proud to have its own ski hill, golf course, aquatic center where Olympic swim teams train, the best schools in the state of NM, outstanding hiking trails, is a very safe community and is the home of Los Alamos National Labs.  Local historical and beautiful sites (Santa Fe, Taos) are within an hour’s drive of Los Alamos.

Position Responsibilities:

This is a rare opportunity to join a team of highly experienced Physical Therapists who have tremendous autonomy with their practice and schedules and make decisions collaboratively. This role also offers a great schedule: primarily Monday-Friday with an occasional Saturday, but no nights and no call! This is primarily an ortho role with a mix of inpatient and outpatient cases. Responsibilities include: 

  • Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
  • Establishes a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to their capabilities and desires.
  • Plans, prepares, and carries out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
  • Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.
  • Directs and supervises physical therapy assistants, students, and other support personnel. Assesses competence, delegates specific tasks, and establishes channels of communication.
  • Administers treatment involving application of physical agents, using equipment, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines.
  • Evaluates, fits, and adjusts prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommends modifications.
  • Identifies and documents goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in discipline required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. 
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) current upon hire. New hires will have ninety (90) days from date of hire to obtain American Heart Association certifications. Notwithstanding this ‘grace period’ for obtaining American Heart Association certifications, employees are not excused from being current in any and all existing certifications that are required for their position as outlined in the position job description.
  • Required Licenses: Current NM Physical Therapist licensure
