Position Summary:

The Bed Coordinator position will be an internal resource and role model to all staff to promote optimal Customer Service Standards and enhance patient flow. This position will facilitate communication between the patient point of entry and the healthcare team and is designed to improve overall customer satisfaction through multiple venues. This position is responsible for assisting with bed placement in collaboration with Nursing House Supervisor, Nursing Directors, Case Managers and Charge Nurses. Upon direction of House Supervisor, Nurse Director or Case Manager assigns patient beds as available and communicates assignments to Charge Nurse of appropriate Nursing Unit. Keeps abreast of available beds within the facility at all times.

Minimum EducationGraduate of a Program in Discipline - Required
Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) - to be obtained within 30 days.Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - to be obtained within 6 monthsPediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - to be obtained within 6 monthsTNCC - to be obtained within 6 months
Required Licenses[West Virginia, United States] Other
Current WV nursing license.
Minimum Work ExperienceDemonstrated leadership, management and problem solving skills and abilities; demonstrated teaching and communication skills, demonstrated objectivity, tolerance and understanding; demonstrated ability to form and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with all members of the health care team."1) Minimum of 2 years experience.2) Familiar with Hospital Admitting Department and processes.3) Ability to work with ancillary hospital staff.4) Must possess knowledge of medical terminology and have demonstrated good Customer Service.5) Must have an understanding of Hospital Compliance Policies and Governmental Regulations.6) Demonstrates knowledge of isolation procedures and appropriate placement of patients under isolation7) Ability to deal with stressful situations involving public, hospital personnel, and all internal and external customers"
