Physical Therapist
Beckley, West Virginia
Works under direction of a physician or other qualified health care provider to provide musculoskeletal evaluations and rehabilitative treatment to patients who have been referred for physical therapy.
Oversees and is responsible for all patient care related activities including supervision of paraprofessionals and non-skilled staff and the coordination of patients care and treatment with the referring physician and other allied health care providers.
Maintains patient records
Supervises paraprofessional and support staff
Provides for patient safety
Promotes and provides education
Communicates with members of the rehab staff and maintains records
Answers and directs calls
Demonstrates interest in department's and self-improvement
demonstrates understanding of role in healthcare team
Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures
Reports to: Director of Physical Therapy
Minimum Education
Graduate of a Program in Discipline - Required
Graduate from a school of Physical Therapy with a degree in Physical Therapy, preferably at a Master’s or Doctorate Level.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) - to be obtained within 30 days
Required Licenses
[West Virginia, United States] Other
Must possess licensure to practice physical therapy in state of WV and must be maintained in good standing
Minimum Work Experience
Experience as a staff physical therapist in an Acute Care Hospital setting and or Out-Patient setting (or both) is preferred.
