ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties or tasks may be requested or assigned by immediate supervisor, his/her designee, or other management/supervisor.

  • Performs ICD-10-CM and CPT coding on all physician clinic billing within one day of service via Athena.
  • Responsible for coding optimization on all charts.
  • Maintain general knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and HMO contracts, policies and procedures for billing and collections.
  • File claims via electronically and monitor the transmission of the claims on a daily basis.
  • Timely follow up on all claims either by phone, remote or Internet.
  • Analyzes the payment remittances and errors for all payers.
  • Make adjustments or correction if needed to a patient’s account.
  • Report any trends for key performance indicators of aging, days and cash posting on clinic accounts.
  • Meet the required collection goal for the clinic.
  • Meet the required goal for timely filing for the clinic.
  • Recommends new charge for procedures.
  • Ensure charges are entered in a timely manner.
  • Reports to appropriate team leader/manager problems that can’t be resolved readily.
