POSITION SUMMARY:                                                                                                                                         

The AVP Assurance Services is responsible for development, coordination, monitoring, execution, and reporting on audit and assurance activities. Responsible for understanding and communicating controls, related risks, and implementation of action plans stemming from audit activities. Effectively communicates (oral and written) with all levels of department staff as well as hospital and corporate leadership.  Responsible for demonstrating a thorough understanding of complex accounting and auditing issues, including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and compliance with other applicable regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation. 

  • Assist with and contribute to the development of risk-based audit workplans and goals for the enterprise risk assurance function including identifying risks, evaluating functions, understanding and evaluating controls, and efficiently using data. 
  • Collaborate with cross functional leadership in developing multi-layered assurance approaches to monitor mitigation of key risks.
  • Effectively communicate with, and educate, process owners and senior management on the importance of internal controls, an effective control environment, and the role of risk assurance.
  • Manage the execution of Risk Assurance projects with adequate supporting documentation for results and corrective action plans in support of risk-based audit workplans.
  • Create and update dashboards showing holistic progress of projects. Assist with the development of presentation decks to the ELT and Board communicating risk management, governance and control issues, opportunities for improvement, and impactful recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Coordinate and facilitate work of external parties (e.g. external auditors) to execute on SOX compliance
  • Support the integration of acquisitions, as needed, to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Assist in the development and presentation of training and quarterly update materials presented to facility leadership
  • Provide written and oral feedback, one on one training, and delegation of work assignment to departmental managers/seniors/staff.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA). Skilled in the application of policies and procedures.  Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Supervise the work of others, including planning, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing productivity. May offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments, but does not have final responsibility for making these decisions.

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, information systems or related discipline

Experience: 10+ years of experience

Certifications: CPA, CIA, CISA, or other relevant certification

  • Business Mathematical Skills -- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs.

  • Moderate Computer Skills – Frequent use of electronic mail, word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, graphics, etc. Ability to create, maintain and incorporate simple functions into documents, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations to support business objectives.
