Position Summary:  Performs receptionist and clerical duties associated with the assigned physician clinic that will include: Answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, registering patients, handling billing and insurance information, protects patient rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information. Maintains operations by following policies and procedures and contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.  

Greets patients and visitors. Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls. Calls codes, pages, and overhead announcements as requested.
Performs needed clerical tasks, including copying, filing, and ordering/stocking supplies.
Assists RNs and physicians with other patient activities as needed.
Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the electronic medical records system with timeliness and accuracy.Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.Provides explanation of process and addresses concern and questionsVerifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles.Provides a variety of department support functions that contribute to the over efficiency of the department, which includes but not limited to greeting of patients, communication, customer service, data entry, record retrieval, preparation and maintenance of all records.Must be willing to assist in the training of new staff at Valley View Medical Center

Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members, all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and other contacts.Must possess the ability to use the following equipment: Telephone/overhead paging system, fax machine, computer.As pertinent to the position, must be able to use computer systems and programs and adapt to new technology as it becomes available and is necessary for the job.Must demonstrate the ability to organize and prioritize with the ability to interact with all levels of staff in a courteous and professional manner.Must have a positive attitude, even temperament in stressful conflict situations.
