How you'll contribute

A CST who excels in this role:

  • Prepare the operating room and surgical suite prior to procedures by setting up sterile fields, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Inspect, test, and verify the functionality and sterility of surgical instruments and equipment prior to use to ensure patient safety.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments, sponges, sutures, and supplies in a timely and accurate manner during surgical procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and ongoing counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and other surgical materials before, during, and after procedures to prevent retained surgical items.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized operating room environment, including cleaning and turnover between cases in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, and performance improvement initiatives as assigned task.

What we're looking for

  Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  •  Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program preferred.

 Experience

 A minimum of six months of on-the-job experience in a surgical, perioperative, or healthcare setting required.

 Certifications

  • A national CST certification is mandatory.
  •  BLS certification (Upon Hire)
