Position Summary: Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital is looking for a Mental Health Tech III to work in our new Behavioral Health Unit. This role predominantly works 12-hour shifts though subject to change according to the needs of the department. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Performs patient physical exams and adjusts patient care to reflect patient changes.
  • Recognizes and relays problems and initiates a problem-solving process.
  • Assists with the training and continuing education of new hires. Additionally, they assist in training and overseeing the work of lower-level techs and may be assigned to serve as a lead and oversee shift activities.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss client behavior, report observations and provide input regarding changes to the treatment plan.
  • Assists with continued quality management, to include assuring safe quality care
  • Follows safety procedures, uses equipment and performs skills consistent with scope of practice.
  • Always provides the highest level of customer service and patient relations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: three years of experience, two of which were paraprofessional experience in a hospital, institutional, residential, clinic, or community setting providing care, treatment, training and supervision for individuals with mental illness or emotional disturbances.  
  • License: Valid NV mental health certification or one year of experience as a Mental Health Tech II or Developmental Support Tech II in NV.
  • American Heart Association Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire (non-AHA BLS certification valid only from date of hire for 6 months or up until the date of expiration, not to exceed 6 months).
