Health Information Management (HIM) Coder Opportunity

Location: REMOTE

Lifepoint Rehabilitation is a leading provider of acute inpatient rehabilitation services with more than 300 hospital-based rehabilitation units, medical/surgical and outpatient therapy settings and more than 30 joint venture inpatient rehabilitation hospitals across the country.
We provide high quality, patient-centered care to those who have experienced a loss of function from an injury or illness. Our team conducts comprehensive evaluations to determine each patient’s unique needs, and then creates a multifaceted program using the latest rehabilitation therapies and advanced technologies to support them on their road to recovery. What you will do in this role:

  • Works remotely to code IRF records using current ICD coding version and within timeframe set by supervisor
  • Maintains coding schedule as assigned by the Area Director
  • Works closely with the PPS Coordinator/Outcomes Manager in assigning the Impairment Code for all admissions as well as other newly diagnosed conditions
  • Serves as back-up for the hospital to transmit IRF PAIs in a timely manner for all Medicare inpatients
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient care information to ensure patient rights are protected
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum  (2) two years current experience in inpatient rehabilitation hospital coding (UB04 and IRF PAI).
  • Proficient in inpatient rehabilitation coding as evidenced in passing the inpatient rehab coding test with >95% accuracy
  • RHIT (or eligible) or RHIA (or eligible) or Coding Certification by AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association)
  • Ability to write AHIMA queries required
