Behavioral Health Patient Care Tech - Full-Time - Day Shift

Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities, as well as POC Testing and EKGs, as needed. The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for conducting functional analyses of patient behavior, participating as a member of the treatment team, contributing to the Master Treatment Plan and implementing appropriate interventions from the plan. The Behavioral Health Technician conducts individual and group psycho-education, leisure activities and life- skill training and coaching for all patients. The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for safety monitoring of patients and of the unit

Reports to: Director - Behavioral Health Unit


Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent - Required

Patient Care Technician education - Preferred

Required Skills
Ability to adjust to changes in a professional manner.
· Flexibility around working hours in order to meet patient and unit needs.
· Ability to intervene quickly in an emergency situation in order to move patients away from situation
and maintain patient, staff and personal safety.
· Ability to be involved in a physical escort, hold or restraint in order to minimize the risk of injury to
patients or staff.
· Must have adhere to regularly scheduled hours and plan absences in advance assure unit staffing
and safety.
· Must read, write and speak fluent English.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Computer proficiency required

Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross Certification) must be obtained within 30 days of employment if not current upon hire.

One (1) year certified nurse tech experience - Preferred
Experience with behavioral health patients - Preferred
