An exciting opportunity to build your experience and resume is now available for a Nurse Extern in our Inpatient Unit for. This opportunity provides current nursing student, a temporary employment experience, under the direct supervisor of a Registered Nurse. A Nurse Extern can provide direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice consistent with the mission, vision and organizational values of UP Health System – Portage.


 Required Skills:

•          Requires the ability to work with and take direction from RN preceptor(s).

•          Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

•          Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written communication skills

•          Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels; both internal and external

 

Position Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Completion of junior year of Bachelor of Science in Nursing required

OR

Completion of first year of Associates Degree of Nursing required

Annual influenza vaccination or declination required

 

Position Details:

Variable hours per week

Up to 12 hour shifts

Day shift

Temporary position (up to 12 weeks)
