Conemaugh Miners Medical Center is seeking a full-time Admission Clerk. The Admission Clerk is responsible for all patient 

registration functions, answering incoming calls and placing outgoing calls through the PBX and beeper system. Directs patients/families,

salesmen, clergy, etc., to their destination in the hospital. Responsible for obtaining and verifying patient demographic and insurance

information during the registration process. The admissions clerk will minimize the financial risk of providing services by assessing the

patient’s financial status, verifying all account information, obtaining signatures on all required hospital and regulatory forms and

obtaining applicable patient payments prior to services being provided. Excellent customer service skills are utilized in all dealings with

patients, physician’s offices and third-party payers.

Essential Responsibilities:

Greets patients and families as they arrive.

Interviewing patients or families promptly, properly and courteously, obtaining pertinent patient information, insurance information and required

signatures for the medical record and other affected areas of the hospital.

Obtains and verifies all insurance, demographic and financial information during the registration process and enters/updates the information in

the registration system. 

Compliant with EMTALA regulations.

Obtains cash payments as appropriate.

Ask appropriate health screening questions recommended by CDC.

Obtains and scans into document imaging system, if applicable, all required signatures, patient picture identification, insurance cards, Physician

orders, consents and financial documents.

Job Qualifications:
Education: 

Required: High school graduate.                

Experience:

Preferred: Prefer minimum of one year experience with automated patient information systems and thorough knowledge of computerized

admitting process; must be accurate typist; have knowledge of filing and bookkeeping to absorb on-the-job training; must have clear and

pleasant telephone voice.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:

None. 

Skills and Abilities:

Must be skilled in accurate typing, filing and bookkeeping; have the ability to concentrate on numerous tasks at the same time; have pleasant

personality enabling tactfulness, thoughtfulness, and congeniality in dealing with patients/families, doctors, and co-workers; have workable

knowledge of PBX system.
