Job Summary

Work with insurance companies on patient admissions.

 

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Frye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina is a 355-bed acute care hospital, 81-bed Behavioral Health facility and more than 70 primary and specialty care providers.

 

Essential Functions

1. Notify insurance companies via online or telephone of patient admissions whether inpatient or observation with information to verify patient coverage, correct insurance is applied, update and make corrections as needed.

2. Streamline the admission process and secure any necessary pre-authorizations as needed working the NOA worklist within the established turnaround time of 48 hours or less.

3. Updating patient information into our system as well as updating the authorization field per Lifepoint Standards

4. Staying current with insurance requirements and problem solving cases as needed.

5. Logs incoming insurance calls, communicates requests for clinical information by insurance companies to the other financial case managers or can provide clinical as needed.

6. Communicates with Patient Access Department and Business Office re: authorization of services.

7. Notifies DCM if potential denial for services is received by insurance company and provides timely information and follow up to get all days certified.

8. Assist with other administrative tasks as needed.

Minimum Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and coding preferred. Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office programs.

 

Minimum Work Experience

  • Two years’ experience in hospital setting preferred. Good organizational skills, ability to work well with people, must be self-directed and must be able to communicate effectively with departmental, hospital, and outside agency staff.
