Department is overseen by critical care director, with direct supervision by department supervisor, who manages departments goals, budgets, and maintains competent licensed respiratory technicians. Supervisor is responsible for the daily charges of the department, payroll, scheduling, and maintaining all blood gas manuals and keeping up to date. All competencies for both the Respiratory Department and the blood gas machine will be done by the supervisor. The supervisor will be responsible for scheduling department meetings and keeping all Respiratory manuals up to date. Department EKG’s are to be filled and kept in binders and located in the RT department. Supervisor will be responsible for keeping all evaluations up to date with each therapist competencies, CPR, Arkansas license, and further information in there files. Any other duties that the manager assigns that need to be completed.

Must maintain current Arkansas licensure, along with BLS and ACLS certifications.

Respiratory Technician (RT) must have the ability to perform a broad range of respiratory therapy and EKG procedures required. Trait requirements for a RT or good organizational skills decision making ability, and effective communication skills. Must be able to work independently in a fast paced work environment. Shifts and scheduled days may vary according to workload. Physical demands include the ability to stand, turn, and carry while working with patients or while operating equipment. The work environment includes exposure to infectious diseases, and universal precautions must always be followed. Will be working with flammable gases in high-pressure containers and noxious fumes and solutions.
