ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These functions are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and
requirements of the job. Other functions may be assigned as needed.
1. Must pre-register patients who have been scheduled for outpatient procedures while using
professional behavior and processes as defined by the department.
2. Must collect accurate patient demographic and billing information in a timely manner.
3. Must input all required insurance and billing information and use the proper financial class and
the insurance codes.
4. Must attempt to obtain complete information for workman’s compensation claim and notes the
information to the registration.
5. Must document in Meditech and additional software, reasons for incomplete information and at
the time of pre-registration and expectations for patient arrival at actual registration.
6. Will answer department telephone and effectively and professionally communicate with the
patients.
7. Will discuss patient financial responsibility and request co-pay or deposit per point of services
policies as appropriate and will facilitate and efficiently gather accurate patient billing
information.
8. Must receive and process patient payments, properly receipting and forwarding all copies of
patient payment receipts posting to the patient accounts in an appropriate manner.
9. Must answer patient inquiries regarding their liability and able to explain the variables
involved.
10. Be able to perform registration duties as needed.
11. Must have effective ability to build customer loyalty through positive customer interactions and
provide consistent positive patient and/or provider experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to learn and perform each essential duty
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:


High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Medical knowledge experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret order requests, insurance information and necessary documents.
Ability to determine and prioritize procedures. Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in
writing.


REASONING ABILITY:


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret
an extensive variety of technical instructions with several abstract and concrete variables. Exercise
good judgement and tact in relating to conflict.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


Strong attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and multi-task. Excellent communication and customer
service skills in a fast-paced environment.
