  • Completes comprehensive head-to-toe physical and psychosocial assessment of patients; takes or reviews nursing histories to provide a basis of development of patient care plans.
  • Implements patient’s written care plan, evaluates patient’s response to care provided and redirects care as necessary.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in competencies for direct patient care and technical skills.
  • Implements and monitors appropriate nursing care plan to meet patient’s needs; identifies expected intervention, and ensures vital patient information is passed on when patient care is transferred to another nurse.
  • Administers medications, including IV’s as prescribed by physician or directed from physician preference card. Knows the actions, indications, dosage and route of administration on drugs prior to administering to patient.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of media legal consequences of nursing activities; interprets

       diagnostic data and practices infection control in all actions.

  • Participates in the health care education needs for the client and the family as appropriate.
  • Monitors utilization of equipment, instrumentation and supplies.
  • Maintains safe and sanitary work environment.
  • Serves as a positive role model for nursing and para-professional personnel, fosters positive working relationships with physicians.
  • Collaborates with hospital personnel and physicians.
  • Participates in evaluative mechanisms to determine unit’s quality of nursing practice.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures of National Park Medical Center.
