CPP Medical Specialties is seeking a full-time Scheduler - CPG Medical Oncology in Johnstown, PA. The Scheduler is responsible for coordinating patient's procedures and testing’s, contacting insurance companies for approvals and ensuring that appropriate contacts are made to complete the process. Under the direction of the Office Manager, is responsible for performing secretarial and general office duties, including, but not limited to, answering phones, maintenance of medical records, tabulation of surgical statistics, and support of surgery operations in a physician’s office to meet the needs of the patient and medical staff. Interacts with all age groups according to their age and developmental needs.

Essential Responsibilities:

Responsible for managing work queues to notify all departments of ordered testing.

Maintain proficiency in use of EPIC system for placing orders/prep for case and documenting needed information in appropriate place. This also includes scanning.

Responsible for obtaining correct CPT and ICD 10 codes prior to obtaining authorizations for procedures. Will work with coding/billing staff to ensure that appropriate coding procedures are gathered.

Responsible for ensuring that the patient’s insurance is active and eligible.

Responsible for contacting insurance companies and obtaining authorizations for all procedures/testing being performed MRI’s, CT scan, etc.

Authorizations must be obtained prior to procedures being performed.

Responsible for scheduling all patient testing – MRI’s, CT scans, etc. through central scheduling.

Responsible for informing patient of all testing/procedure information, preps, special instructions.

Answering all incoming phone calls in a courteous manner. Returns all phone calls same day before leaving for the day.

Obtaining statistics as requested by Office Manager.

Attends assigned and/or scheduled in-service education meetings and staff meetings.

Promotes an environment that is conducive to employee and patient safety.

Must be flexible with workload, schedule and location to meet the demands of the office. 

Maintains confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Maintenance of office equipment in good operational order.

Assisting with the front desk duties, if workload permits.

Understanding and obtaining insurance authorizations for patient x-rays, labs, MRIs and all testing, when required by patient's insurance plan. Use of the insurance companies' websites, i.e. Navinet, UPMC, etc. system for insurance authorization verification.

Understanding and complying with office policies as outlined in the Policy Manual.

Job Qualifications:
Education:

Required: High School Graduate or equivalent.

Preferred: Graduate of an approved medical secretary school.

Experience:

Required:

One year of experience in a physician office setting including experience with scheduling procedures.

One year of experience with working with insurances including obtaining authorizations. 

Preferred: 

Experience with EPIC Computer System.

Experience with Word and Excel.
