Position Summary:

Ensures that all cardiac monitoring equipment is operating effectively and that rhythm disturbances and oxygen saturation variations are promptly communicated to the appropriate staff.  The Tele Tech demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of Trios Health.  Flexibility is required for constant changes while demonstrating quality and effectiveness in all work processes.  The Tele Tech role requires highly developed organizational and communication skills, self-directed behaviors, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

EESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Electronic Heart Monitor Documentation:
    • Competently operates Central monitoring station (hardwire and telemetry)
    • Admits patient to cardiac monitoring system
    • Completes initial rhythm  recognition and measurements
    • Obtains information from nursing staff regarding medications that will affect patient’s rhythm
    • Continually monitors ECG tracings on all patients for dysrhythmia identifications, ECG changes, and oxygen saturation level variances (when on O2 monitoring)
    • Performs rhythm analysis (including PR, QRS, and T measurements) as scheduled for each department
    • Notifies the nursing unit when the telemetry signal is interrupted or has too much artifact, or when oxygen saturation levels are outside of desired range.
    • Immediately notifies nursing staff of ECG changes, including rhythm or measurements (for example, a prolonged Q-T interval) and documents.
    • Recognizes limitations in cardiac interpretation and seeks consultation when appropriate.
    • Calls a Code Blue when a Lethal Rhythm is detected
    • Ensures that ECG strips are printed on each patient every 4 hours, or more frequent as needed
  • Clerical Support:
    • Maintains unit inventory of forms, paper products and office supplies.
    • Assures documentation for each patient is complete.
    • Works with unit secretary in each unit to determine order for telemetry monitoring is current.
  • Customer Service:
    • Answers phones using pleasant voice and professional manner.
    • Maintains good communication with other hospital departments and assists in the facilitation of cooperative activities between departments
  • Communication: 
    • Follow chain of command 100% of time.
    • Uses appropriate and concise verbiage when reporting telemetry status to nurses, physicians and patient care providers.
    • Develops and maintains good communication with other hospital departments and staff.
    • Handwritten documentation is clearly legible and concise.
    • Follows hospital standards when using abbreviations and completing written documentation.
    • Uses courteous manner when answering phone.
    • Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
  • Hospital Information System:
    •  Utilizes tools for communication properly to ensure readability. Utilizes computer to generate meaningful information and increase efficiency.
  • Successfully completes training and maintains competency in applicable software programs.
  • Successfully completes training and achieves competency for software additions to computer system within the identified time lines for completion.
  • Reports computer hardware (PC, keyboard, printers, etc.) problems to IT staff, Director, or HS 100% of the time.
  • Notifies IT, Clinical Engineering, Director, or the HS (when IT and/or Clinical Engineering department is closed) with software problems or inability to access the system.
  • Adheres to the information system security policy 100% of the time.
  • Environment and Safety:
    • Identifies and reports to appropriate department of non-functioning or damaged equipment at workstation.
    • Cleans and maintains a neat work area at nursing station.
    • Maintains annual BLS and Safety update.

Wage: $17.68 - $26.80
