Position Summary

The Referral Coordinator provides medical support services to the providers in order to ensure a smooth flow of patients through the medical clinics of Las Cruces Physician Practices.

  • Main Responsibilities & Duties: Assists patients calling or visiting the clinic. Initiates referral process and evaluated requirements for each referral per protocol. Makes referral appointments and maintains referral log in Dashboard per policy. Assists with call backs to patients, insurances, and outside providers when referring to any and all referrals. Assists with call backs to patient at provider request. Maintains tracking in the Dashboard. Maintains daily EHR worklist. Initiates referrals in a timely manner per procedure. Tracks referral in a timely manner per procedure. Documents in Dashboard or clinic EHR systems. Completes referrals in a timely manner per procedure. Completed expected amount of referral monthly. Records timely in EHR per the corporation’s policy and procedure in a timely manner. Enters patient data into clinic tracking system. Maintains professional growth by attending all meetings and in-service training. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement CQI activities and staff meetings. Treats all clients. Staff and the community with respect and courtesy. Utilizes effective means to resolve conflict. Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills. Flexibility to work at other LCPP sites as needed. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications 

    • Minimum Education:  High School Diploma or GED required. 
    • Minimum Experience:  Two years working in a medical clinic preferred. 

Ability to use Microsoft Word for basic correspondence. Ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM.

Must be able to use Excel.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.

Ability to adapt to specific environment and duties. Demonstrate clear knowledge of LCPP clinic structure, standards, procedures and protocols.

Communication Skills:

    • Must have neat and legible handwriting.
    • Must be able to interact with patients courteously and calmly.
    • Ability to communicate well with the public.
