Position Summary

The Surgery Unit at Spring View Hospital embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication. This is a 10-bed unit that ensures patients receive optimal medical attention and support (4 in OR and 6 in Recovery).

The RN demonstrates professional development and clinical competency; utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

  • Performs admission assessment and reassessments as set forth within hospital Standards of Care time frames.
  • Documents accurately in the patient’s medical record.
  • Monitors response to medication.
  • Monitors lab work results.
  • Evaluates and addresses the education needs of patient and family and coordinates discharge assistance including home health needs indicated.
  • Conveys to supervisor any problems related to supplies or equipment as well as information pertaining to problem.
  • Performs reassessments of patient based on guidelines set forth in the SOC.
  • Notifies physician, anesthesia provider, charge nurse, and other individuals when appropriate, of any adverse changes in patient’s condition.
  • Ability to work in all areas of surgical services i.e., outpatient, circulate, scrub, PACY, and Phase II.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate’s degree required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience is strongly preferred

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 days of hire
  • ACLS is required within 6 months of hire
  • PALS is required within 6 months of hire
  • Certification in area of specialty preferred

License:

  • Current RN license in the State of Kentucky.
