Under the supervision of a physician or nurse, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.

Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition.

Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas.

Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including, filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration. Administrative duties include scheduling appointments, calling patient to confirm appointments, updating and/or verifying insurance.

Clinical duties include preparing patients for visits, assisting physicians during visits and help coordinate patient treatment plans at time of discharge.

May be responsible for providing basic DME fitting, coordinating, and performing prior authorizations for DME orders, radiology orders, and surgery orders.

Helps set up procedures in clinic setting, specimen collection and preparation, depending on clinical and provider needs. Efficient in sterile technique.

Provides support with charting, billing, data collections, authorizations, and in basket messaging.


Minimum Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Required Skills:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire.

New hires will have ninety (90) days from hire to obtain American Heart Association certifications. Notwithstanding this 'grace period' for obtaining American Heart Association certifications, employees are not excused from being current in any and all existing certifications that are required for their position as outlined in the job description.

Cast tech certification preferred.
