Position Summary:

Works under the direct or indirect supervision of an imaging technologist in performing diagnostic procedures utilizing appropriate equipment, unless working in the capacity of your existing imaging registration/certification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Operates stationary, and portable diagnostic imaging equipment in all imaging divisions with assistance and guidance of a an imaging technologist.
Works under the direct or indirect supervision of an imaging technologist while performing diagnostic radiographic examinations.
Processes image including evaluating image for technical quality and notifies appropriate personal of any follow-up needed.
Assists in staff functions such as registering patients, general office duties, filing, transporting of patients if necessary.
Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. May assist physician with performing interventional procedures including fine needle aspiration and needle localization.
Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s), biopsies, stereotactic and special procedures. Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education
Graduated from an imaging program in Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine/Molecular Imaging, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or MRI technology
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
