Position Summary

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures. Responsible for the use and general maintenance of the DaVinci robot.

Essential Functions

Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.  Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.

Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.

Passes instruments to physician during surgery.  Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.

Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.

Performs on call services as requested.

Actively participates and ensures room turn overs are efficient and timely.

Manages robotic surgery schedule and ensures adequate inventory of supplies for surgery.

Assists with training, troubleshooting, and appropriate use of the DaVinci. Maintains positive relationship with company in the event further assistance is necessary.

Ensures all required maintenance is scheduled and met for the DaVinci Surgical System.


Minimum Qualifications

Education

Certified Surgical Technology Program

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications

Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS-HCP)

Successfully Completed DaVinci Coordinator Course Training (within 6 months)

Work Experience

External – 3 years as a Surgical Technician and service line sign off within 1 year

Internal – 1 year as a Surgical Technician and service line sign off
