Jackson Purchase Medical Center is a 107 all private bed, Joint Commission-accredited facility. From emergent to elective, our facility offers a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including those offered at the New Beginnings Birthing Center, the Advanced Healing Wound Care Center, and our accredited chest pain center.

Medical Assistant performs routine clinical and administrative duties in support of assigned area or clinic.

Minimum Education

·      High School Diploma Required

·      Graduate of a Program in Discipline Preferred

·      Certifications

o  Certified Medical Assistant - must be obtained within 60 days of hire

o  Certification Required (NCCT, AAMA OR NHA) - must be obtained within 60 days of hire

o  Basic Life Support (BLS) may be obtained within 30 days of hire

Required Skills

·      Under the supervision of physician or nurse, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.

·      Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given.

·      Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas.

·      Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
