Position Summary

The Medical Group/Physician Services at Jackson Purchase Medical Center embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, essential for providing specialized care to critically ill patients. We strive to Make Communities Healthier. We strive to create places where patients choose to come for healthcare, where providers desire to practice, and Team Members want to work.  The Clinic Coordinator provides maintenance of the daily operations and general management of the practices. Allocating and assigning duties to employees, monitoring activities and operations of the Practice components. This position will also be responsible for conducting audits and reviews to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing rural health clinics (RHCs) and provider-based clinics (PBCs)

  • Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives. 
  • Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives. 
  • Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. 
  • Coordinates and directs internal/external audits. 
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth. 
  • Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
  • Evaluates billing, coding, documentation practices, and operational procedures to ensure adherence to Medicare and Medicaid guidelines and other regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit and Review: Conduct routine and risk-based audits of rural health clinics and provider-based clinics to assess compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Review coding and billing practices for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements.
    • Evaluate clinical documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
    • Conduct audits on provider-based status requirements and ensure clinics meet compliance with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines.
  • Compliance Monitoring:
    • Identify areas of non-compliance and develop corrective action plans with clinic management.
    • Monitor adherence to compliance programs and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
    • Stay updated on changes in regulations affecting rural health clinics and provider-based facilities, communicating updates to clinic teams as needed.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Collect and analyze audit data to identify trends, patterns, and areas of risk.
    • Prepare audit reports, summaries, and recommendations for clinic leadership.
    • Track and report performance improvement measures and compliance metrics to leadership.
  • Training and Education:
    • Provide training to clinic staff on documentation, coding, billing, and compliance best practices.
    • Educate staff on new regulations and policies affecting rural health and provider-based clinics.
    • Assist clinics in implementing process improvements to maintain compliance.
  • Policy and Procedure Development:
    • Assist in the development, review, and updating of policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with clinic managers and leadership to implement improvements to clinic operations that enhance regulatory compliance.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with compliance officers, clinical leadership, and administrative staff to ensure consistent application of compliance standards.
    • Serve as a liaison between rural health clinics, provider-based clinics, and regulatory bodies during audits and surveys.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Health Information Management, or a related field.

Certifications and Licenses

  • BLS is required
  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or equivalent is a plus.

Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in healthcare auditing, compliance, preferably within a rural health or provider-based clinic setting.
  • Experience with Medicare/Medicaid regulations and CMS guidelines, specifically for rural health clinics and provider-based clinics.
