Position Summary:

Using the principles of total quality management (TQM) to lead the work of one or more maintenance department trade employees in repair and overhaul work assignments and may perform some of the same work as team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent, Required

Experience: 

  • Over five (5) years of hands-on experience in healthcare facility maintenance, Required

Required Skills:

  • An interest in and satisfactory completion of training in total quality management principles

  • Interest in and ability to lead employees and delegate work assignments

  • Physical fitness to perform maintenance and heavy lifting assignments

  • Essential Functions:

  • Confers with Market Directo of Plant Ops at start of each shift to determine work priorities, supplies required and team skills needed

  • Discusses work to be performed and invites team members to volunteer for assignments most appropriate for their skills and experience.   

  • Proceeds to work site with one or more team members to view assignment; may assist team members in determining “on the job” working procedures and in resolving technical problems of the assignment.

  • Inspects, coordinates and records work performed by the team

  • Coordinates schedule for monthly safety meeting topics of the team.  Request each team member to select a topic for meetings, using material and assistance from plant safety department.

  • Arranges for orientation and training of new maintenance team members. 

  • Arranges for cross training of team members in new trades as work schedule allows

Non-Essential Functions:

  • May substitute for department manager in his/her absence

  • Participates in preparatory meetings for semi-annual “maintenance day” overhauls

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

  • Promotes culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation and prevention.

  • Maintains hospital standards for a clean and quiet patient environment to maintain a positive patient care experience

  • Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends and developments in related scope of job role or practice.

  • Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.

  • Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities.

  • Maintains compliance with organization’s policies as well as established practices, protocols and procedures of the position, department and applicable professional standards.

  • Complies with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information 

  • Demonstrates excellent customer service through his/her attitude and actions, consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of the organization

  • Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements and TJC standards and/or standards from other accrediting bodies.

  • Demonstrates effective conflict resolution skills

  • Creates a work environment and culture within the department (s) that foster positive customer satisfaction

  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient and organizational safety
