Sommer Rehabilitation Unit, and the Shoals Senior Care Center, the Shoals’ only psychiatric unit dedicated to our senior adults.

Position Summary:

Maintains safe and secure environment for customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Initial and annual “Crisis Prevention Intervention” training (provided “in-house”).
  • Job activities are performed in accordance with simple standard procedures but are fairly diverse in scope and job requires making decisions within well-defined limits. 
  • Does not lead or supervise.
  • Confidential data is involved in the normal performance of assigned duties. 
  • The position has frequent communication with middle level management and professional employees. 
  • Communications involve simple and some complex routine matters.  
  • Discomforting physical demands and/or working conditions such as, assisting staff in lifting, standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • Possibility of exposure to blood borne pathogens, accident or other health hazard exposures may be present but unlikely if normal safety procedures are followed.

Complexity of Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Job activities are complex, diversified and only partially structured. 
  • Requires considerable judgment to work independently toward general results.  Must be able to make on point decisions based on precedent, hospital policies and evolving situations.

Supervisory Accountability Does not lead or supervise.

Confidentiality 
Works with confidential data such as medical records and other similar information which, if disclosed, 
may result in internal problems and may be detrimental to hospital relationships. 

Interpersonal Contacts 
The position has frequent communication with middle and upper level management and employees.  
Communication involves fairly complex information of largely routine matters. 

Impact of Actions and Decisions  
Errors are usually discovered in succeeding activities where the work is checked or verified.  Errors are 
confined to a single department or phase of hospital activities.  May result in monetary loss.  Minor impact 
on patient care. 

Physical Demand/Working Conditions 
Somewhat discomforting physical demands and/or working conditions.  Exposure to situations such as 
continuous light lifting, computer activity, discomforting levels of either noise, fumes and other elements 
but with none present to the extent of being continually discomforting.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
