Job Summary: Understands the criteria for inclusion in the trauma registry database.  Maintains trauma patient demographic data and reports to TPM as requested. Maintains trauma team activation response times of in-house team and reports to TPM as requested. Ensure system is in place to monitor validity of data abstraction and entry. In collaboration with Trauma Coordinator and Trauma Medical Director, sets standards for data entry, implements necessary procedures, and provide documentation for all registry related functions. Work with Trauma Medical Director and Trauma staff, hospital staff members, and physicians to maintain trauma designation status. Actively participates in Trauma Performance Improvement Program including data analysis, medical record extrapolation, and data entry for the trauma registry. Actively participates in education activities to include trauma registry related education programs. Collaborates with TNC during an absence to maintain daily trauma team activation report and patient list for concurrent abstraction. Familiar and competent in the current EHR to abstract patient data accurately and timely. Familiar and competent with trauma registry software for data entry. Assists with planning and implementation of community events for injury prevention. Assists with trauma survey preparation. Familiar with PRMC’s standards of trauma care as designated by the American College of Surgeons and Tx Department of State Health Services. Assists TPM with trauma team activation charge entry as needed. Concurrently collects specific data from patient charts on assigned patients and enters data into trauma registry along with TNC. Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and attentions to detail as demonstrated by frequency of errors in abstraction. Completes new patient abstracts with initial information within (24 hours M-F) and (48 hours on weekends/holidays).  All other duties as assigned.
