Our Clinical Informatics team is dedicated to optimizing clinical workflows, supporting end‑users, and ensuring our electronic medical record systems function seamlessly. You will collaborate closely with nursing leadership, department directors, IT partners, and frontline staff to support education, system enhancements, and workflow improvements. How you'll contribute

A Clinical Informatics Specialist who excels in this role:

  • Conducts orientation and training for new employees, students, contractors, providers, and other staff on Cerner PowerChart and related clinical applications
  • Assists users with navigating the Cerner EMR and provides education to ensure accurate, complete, and compliant documentation
  • Attends committee and Clinical Informatics meetings (often via Microsoft Teams) to discuss workflow changes, system enhancements, optimization opportunities, and best practices-representing Central Carolina Hospital
  • Manages and resolves incoming support requests through ServiceNow, assisting users with application issues, system problems, and workflow‑related questions
  • Communicates upcoming system changes, enhancements, upgrades, and downtime notifications to ensure staff awareness and readiness
  • Collaborates with clinical and operational departments to identify workflow improvement opportunities and support implementation of system changes
  • Provides at‑the‑elbow support, troubleshooting, and follow‑up assistance for users as needed
  • Participates in testing, validation, and implementation activities related to system upgrades, new functionality, interfaces, and clinical applications

What we're looking for

Applicants should have strong clinical and informatics experience. Requirements include:

  • Current North Carolina or compact state Registered Nurse license
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree preferred
  • 2-3 years of Cerner experience with high proficiency using Cerner in a clinical environment
  • Strong critical thinking, independent judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and sometimes stressful environment
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
