How you'll contribute
A Trauma Registrar who excels in this role maintains current, accurate data within the trauma registry by collecting, entering, retrieving, and reporting data related to all trauma patients:
Ensures that all necessary demographic, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
Codes injury severity for all traumatic injuries using doctor/nurses notes and other medical record reports.
Assigns appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes.
Maintains trauma database, updates database, manages changes and corrections to database.Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
What we're looking for
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Must have thorough understanding of ICD-10 Official Coding Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and AHA Coding Clinic; HCPCS/CPT coding systems and CPT Assistant and Coding Clinic for HCPCS guidelines.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Minimum 1 year clerical/ data entry
Certifications: Certified Coding Specialist (C.C.S.) (Preferred)Certified Professional Coder-Hospital (CPC-H) (Preferred)Certified Coding Associate (CCA) (Preferred)Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) (Preferred)Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) (Preferred)
