Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a full-time Cardiac Cath Lab Manager for the Cardiac Cath Lab. The Cardiac Cath Lab Manager will plan and implement the overall Policies, procedures, and services of the cardiac catheterization lab.  The Cardiac Cath Lab Manager ensures efficient and effective lab operations, including quality control and compliance adherence, hiring and training of new employees as well as budgetary control for the lab, and familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.  Will perform a variety of tasks, and lead and direct the work of others.

Essential Functions:

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Hires and Transfers: In coordination with Human Resources, interviews, selects, and provides for training of employees.

Layoff and Recall: Recommends reduction in employee complement and initiates action, notifies employee(s) if conditions meet specific criteria.

Assigns and Directs Work: Grants overtime, assigns and schedules subordinate staff to ensure effective coverage of the lab.

Promotes and Evaluates: Independently evaluates and determines work assignments and evaluates job performance, recognizes performances.

Adjusts Grievances: Meets with employees to listen to and resolve employee issues and adjust grievances.

Fair Accountability: Implements counseling to ensure fair accountability of all staff.

Suspends and Discharges: In coordination with Human Resources, exercises employee suspensions or discharges as required.

Exercises Supervisory Authority: Develops and implements department and/or hospital policy; insures all employees are trained in policy; exercises

discretion, independent of policy to insure proper function of department or sub-department; identifying and planning for developmental needs of the staff.

Staffing the lab to ensure 24-hour coverage appropriate to patient care needs; schedules staff for all hours/workdays and on-call.

Approves all records supporting employee compensation and hours worked.

Facilitating staff input into decisions affecting clinical practice in the laboratory and other patient care units providing care for patients post procedure.

Encourages staff to obtain the RCVT (1) credential.

Ensures staff is cross trained for all positions and areas in the department.

Establishment of a valid statistical data base for budgetary decision making.

Facilitation of the development of realistic annual budget which may include revenue, personnel, supplies and capital equipment.

Establishment of accurate laboratory productivity measures.

Regular review of budgetary variances to assure appropriate use of resources.

Active promotion of cost effective unit operations.

Anticipation of the impact of institutional financial status on unit operations.

Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.

Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and

procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.

Position Responsibilities:
Serves as a role model for staff in communications, collaboration, courtesy and interactions, and maintenance of standards of care.

Coordinates the day-to-day activities ensuring incorporation of regulatory mandates into laboratory practice of the Cath Lab and making work assignments

and directing work.

Serves as a resource to Cath Lab staff and other departments; acts as liaison between Cath Lab and other departments to ensure efficient operations.

Ensures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing and continuing professional development for staff.

Facilitates monthly departmental staff meetings as well as the operations and inventory meetings for the Cath Lab.

Directs and monitors the delivery of personalized efficient care with respect for patient’s spiritual and cultural differences and individual rights and

preferences.

Collaborates with the Medical Director and CNO to address issues and promote quality improvement within the Lab.

Uses computer system for work-related activities; Safeguards all computer information and maintains confidentiality.

Participates in ongoing Performance Improvement projects within the Health System as appropriate.

Demonstrates departmental Performance Improvement processes with a focus on patient/family/employee and physician and staff satisfaction.

Ensures patient’s rights are preserved.

Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost in planning and delivery of patient care.

Utilizes the Lean process for performance improvement activities; Continues to review and keep updated on the Baldridge process for performance

excellence.

Collaborates with the System Coordinator, CNO and other supporting areas to assure appropriate data collection and staff compliance.

Maintains own Clinical Competency.

Enters complete and accurate data into the established database.

Promotes Conemaugh Nason Medical Center’s cardiac program in the community including educational programs.

Prepares PI report for Cardiovascular Division Meetings.

Incorporates current research, new interventions, and technological advances into practice.

Implements ongoing quality assurance activities.

Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations and employment laws.

Adheres to Corporate Compliance Guidelines and requirements of Federal, State and Local regulatory and accrediting agencies with no deviation from

standards.

Attends mandatory annual in-services with no deviation from departmental time frames.

Attends departmental meetings/in-services as scheduled with no unexcused absences.

Participates in continuing education programs as per job classification requirements.

Respects the cultural and diversity, rights, confidentiality, privacy needs of the patients, employees, and all whom we come in contact with no deviation of

Hospital policy.

Is dependable with infrequent call-offs and appropriate use of PTO and according to Hospital policy; must maintain punctuality; routine attendance at work

is mandatory.

Adheres to standards of professional ethics and maintain confidentiality regarding all patient and all privileged work information with no documented

deviation from standards.

Presents a professional image by appearance, articulation and behavior; adhere to hospital and departmental dress codes, including wearing the Hospital

ID badge, with no pattern of deviation.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Education:
Required: Graduate of a school of nursing; Associate’s degree in nursing (BSN).

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health care or business.

Required Licenses:
Required: Current nurse’s license in the state of Pennsylvania or a current multistate license (MSL) from compact member states/territories.

Minimum Work Experience:
Required: Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in an outpatient setting (Cath Lab, Operating Room, Recovery Room, etc.).

Preferred: More than five (5) years of experience in an outpatient setting (Cath Lab, Operating Room, Recovery Room, etc.); Knowledge of access

database.

Certifications:
Required:
Current and must maintain ACLS and CPR certifications.
