JOB SUMMARY

Clinical Lead will report to the Practice Manager and will oversee all activities of the day to day operations at each individual clinic. This position will supervise clinical and non-clinical staff, maintain compliance with OSHA, Infection Control, CLIA, and manage inventory and supplies.

FLSA: Non-exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assists in the assessment of patient needs and health plan by taking vital signs, history, medication listing, assessing visual acuity and determining chief complaint. Completes all necessary documentation in the patient's medical record in accordance with practice's charting policy. Prepares equipment and assists providers with medical treatments, exams and procedures. Assisting with examination, biopsies and surgical procedures, dressing changes, suture removals and allergen patch testing. Educate patients on treatment plans and expectations. Perform phlebotomy for patients when directed by the provider. Formulate and obtain proper informed consents for in-office procedures. Proper completion of pathology and laboratory requisitions. Answer telephone inquiries from patient, their families, or other providers concerning treatment, medications, laboratory results, surgery or related concerns. Respond to urgent and emergency situations as needed. Supervising staff at the assigned locations. Act as the point person for any issues that arise in the office. Report issues that require further attention to Practice Manager. Complete daily, weekly, and monthly OSHA related tasks to ensure that the office maintains compliance with all OSHA regulations. Complete mandatory SPICE (Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology) training. Completes mandatory NCIP and VFC training for the North Carolina Immunization Program. Will be the primary vaccine coordinator if applicable. Ensure proper infection control practices are being utilized throughout the office. Check inventory of all clinic supplies (amount of supplies as well as expiration dates) on a weekly basis and report any items that need to be ordered to the Clinic Coordinator. Ensure all supplies are unpacked and stored appropriately immediately after they are delivered. Maintain organization of the clinical spaces by doing a weekly check of the sample closets, supply bays, and labs. Remove any clutter an put all items in their designated locations. Continuously monitors the operation of the practice and revises operational procedures as necessary. Reviews employee schedules, time and approves sick and vacation time before sending to Practice Manager for final approval. May be asked to assist Practice Manager in hiring of new employees for that site. Perform clinical competencies on new hires and annually for all clinical staff. Perform other administrative, clerical, or clinical tasks as needed.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Associate's Degree in Medical Assistant or LPN preferred.

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

BLS- required

Licenses:

Current LPN license to practice in NC (NC license or multi-state compact license) or

Certified Medical Assistant.

Minimum Work Experience

3 or more years experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or LPN is required.

3-5 years’ experience in a leadership/supervisory role is preferred.

Knowledge of medical terminology

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Well organized with keen attention to detail.

Good problem solving and analytical skills.

Excellent computer skills.

Ability to work with a team or independently.

Must have your own transportation and be willing to work in all locations.

Experience working in a Medical Practice strongly preferred.
