JOB SUMMARY
Demonstrates all aspects of echocardiogram performance including, tasks involved in creating images of the heart, cardiac chambers, valves, and vessels for the purpose of assessing heart function and diagnosing heart ailments. Work closely with cardiologists and other physicians, often performing the technical aspects of the examinations, evaluating the findings, and reporting them to the cardiologists. Provide patient care, such as preparing the patients for the sonographic imaging and providing them with instruction during the echocardiograph. Effectively documentation and billing of procedure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Coordinates/supervises student training.
Performs all aspects of ECG's.
Assist with Stress Testing (Treadmill only).
Assist with Echos, Stress Echo's, Dobutamine Echo's and assist with Trans esophageal echo's.
Performs all related paperwork including: Secures patient information; prepares a permanent record of test performed; copies, faxes and/or delivers test result bills, and records for test performed.
Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.Prepares equipment and supplies.Implements safety and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.Positions patient and performs imaging procedure.

Contact hours for Continuing Education.
Attends monthly Department Staff Meetings.
Displays tact, patience, and courtesy in dealing with patients, family members, co-workers, visitors and students.
Complies with TB testing in a timely manner.
Participates in Quality Improvement indicators.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum EducationAssociate’s degree from a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program required.Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred.
Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) requiredAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (within 1 year of date of hire or transfer)Handle with Care within 3 months of hire or transfer
Licenses: Registered Sonographer Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonongraphers (ARDMS) Required (within one year of hire or transfer).
Minimum Work Experience1-3 years experience preferred.
