Performs, under the supervision of a registered imaging technologist, a variety of technical diagnostic examinations associated with the operation of x-ray equipment to produce diagnostic radiographs of designated portions of the body. Observes all regulations concerning radiation protection of oneself, patients, and staff. Provides appropriate age specific care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric individuals. Assures confidentiality of patient information, departmental and hospital affairs. Actively participates in department growth, student mentorship and training of onboarding personnel. Commits to teamwork and displaying a positive and professional demeanor.

Essential Functions: 

Operates stationary and portable diagnostic imaging equipment in all imaging divisions with direct or indirect guidance of a registered imaging technologist, as required by the extern’s competency and proficiency level.Works under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered imaging technologist while performing diagnostic radiographic examinations.Provides care for patients by maintaining a positive and professional atmosphere as well as addressing their physical needs.Assures confidentiality of patient information, departmental and hospital affairs.Administers age specific (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) patient care promptly according to the patient’s plan of care.Assures appropriate orders are obtained and followed during the performance of all procedures.Verifies patient identification before performing any procedure.Adheres to all Departmental and Hospital policies and procedures.Assist in staff functions such as registering patients, general office duties, filing, and transporting of patients.Will perform additional duties, as assigned.

Minimum EducationHigh School Diploma or GED required. Senior Radiologic Technology student of an AMA/JCERT approved Radiologic Technology Program.
Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:BLS required
Registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. American Heart Association BLS certification required.
Computer: Basic computer skillsClerical: General knowledge of clerical dutiesRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful/fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.Proficient in diagnostic examinations, fluoroscopy, invasive procedures/OR; knowledge of diagnostic radiologic equipment operations: PACs and RIS proficiency preferred.
