This part-time (20-24 hours per week) position provides support to human resources with conducting new hire screenings, managing worker’s compensation, and assessing return to work for both worker’s comp and medical leave.  Evaluates injuries to determine risks and develops plans for future prevention. Serves employees with wellness education and wellness screenings. 

1.     Develops and maintains Employee Health Program assessing goals annually and evaluating departmental needs.

2.     Collaborate with other members of leadership and administration regarding occupational health and safety matters.

3.     Performs post-offer assessment, review ADA, ensures immunization requirements are met.

4.     Manages Workers’ Compensation injuries, claims, follow-up and return to work by maintaining contact with Employee, Work Comp provider, and insurance carrier. 

5.     Manages medical return to work in coordination with HR and Departmental Directors.

6.     Analyze data from injuries and near-misses, determine areas of safety concerns, and develop a plan for prevention of injury.  Reviews Loss-Run Report monthly. 

7.      Manages and administers Blood Borne Pathogen Exposure program and the Respiratory Protection Program for Preventing Transmission of Airborne Diseases in accordance with OSHA requirements.

8.      Maintains OSHA recordkeeping for 300, 300A, 301 and Sharps Injury Log.  Posts 300A in all locations from Feb-April annually.  Submit OSHA report as requested by Department of Labor.

9.     Review all Employee Health policies and make changes to reflect current OSHA requirements and CDC recommendations.

10.   Manages data bases and filing systems in all employee health areas

11.   Member of Environment of Care, Infection Control, and Patient Safety committees with quarterly reporting expectations. 

12.   Follows recommendations by Infection Prevention Committee to lead annual flu vaccination program. 

13.   Collaborate with Infection Prevention if an occupational exposure to communicable disease occurs.

Required Education: 

Associate’s degree in nursing is required

Bachelor’s degree is preferred

Required License:   

Registered Nurse in North Carolina is required (or compact state)

Required Certification: 

American Heart Association BLS is required
