Position Summary:

This position receives and initiates calls to/from patients, providers, provider offices, and facility departments in a high-paced inbound call center environment. Under general supervision, this position. performs all duties and functions in relation to the pre-registration and scheduling of radiology exams and procedures. Communicates all relative instructions to patients and/or family.  This is a fast-paced environment and requires excellent communication, organizational and computer skills.  Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, physicians/offices, hospital departments, and coworkers. Must possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism and the ability to work both independently and as a team to ensure patient, customer, and department needs are met.

  • Perform all levels of scheduling from basic to complex.
  • Responsible for answering multi-line phone and assist with indexing electronic faxes.
  • Accurately collect personal protected information (PPI), protected health information (PHI), and insurance information.
  • Practice attentive and active listening to accomplish scheduling duties.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with patients regarding appointments and instructions for procedures and tests.
  • Identify alternative schedule solutions in the event patient’s preference is not available, while adhering to procedures and protocols and ensuring patient safety. 
  • Ability to build customer loyalty through positive customer interactions and provide consistent positive patient and provider experiences. 

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to learn and perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or experience:

  • Must have a high school diploma, GED or higher for this position.
  • 3-5 years of experience working within a healthcare setting performing related tasks preferred but not required.

Language skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret physician/provider orders, and QA reports and necessary documents. Ability to determine and prioritize procedures. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 

Reasoning ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions with several abstract and concrete variables. Exercise good judgement and tact in responding to conflict.

Other skills and abilities:

Strong attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and multi-task. Excellent communication and customer service skills in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
