Manages the daily operations of the assigned department or function to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.


Minimum EducationAssociate of Applied Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology, chemistry, biology or Science and certified as a MLT (AMT, ASCP, or NCA).(OR) Medical Laboratory technicians, performing high complexity testing, who graduated on or after April 24, 1995: Must have an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Science. Medical Laboratory Technicians who graduated before April 24, 1995: Must have graduated from an approved or accredited medical laboratory or clinical laboratory training program or have successful completed as least a 50 week official US military medical laboratory procedures course and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician).(OR) Bachelor of Science degree in clinical laboratory technology, chemistry, biology or Science and certified as a MT or CLS (AMT, ASCP, or NCA). Or anyone who graduated before February 28, 1992 must have passed the HEW/HHS proficiency exam for medical technologist or completed 90 hours in an accredited college with 16 hours in chemistry (6 semester hours in organic chemistry). 12 hours in biology and 3 hours of math and experience training or both covering several fields of medical laboratory work and 3 hours of math and experience training or both covering several fields of medical laboratory work of at least one year and of such quality as to provide the education and training in medical technology.
Required SkillsCertifications:MLT or HEW/HHS.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Minimum Work ExperiencePrefer experience with regulatory and accreditation of laboratory operations.
