Harris Regional Cancer Center is an outpatient hospital-based, radiation therapy center located in Sylva, NC featuring new, state-of-the-art TrueBeam radiation therapy equipment. 

The Therapist provides safe and accurate application of ionizing radiation intent upon the treatment of neoplastic and benign diseases in accordance with the prescription and instruction of the radiation oncologist.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
Safely and accurately applies ionizing radiation intent upon the treatment of neoplastic and benign diseases in accordance with the prescription and instruction of the radiation oncologist.

Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred 

License and Certifications:

Must have valid ARRT certification and registration in Radiation Therapy. 

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) current and maintained.  

Minimum Work Experience: Two years of clinical experience in radiation therapy is preferred but not required. Experience with TrueBeam and Aria EMR system strongly desired.

Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1.    Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds.
2.    Ability to see colors, see at least 1 mm squares.
3.    Ability to reach overhead.
4.    Ability to remain calm, continue to function effectively and develop priorities during highly stressful situations.
5.    Ability to communicate effectively using written and verbal media.
6.    Ability to move and operate equipment and carry supplies.
