Position summary: 

The Floor Technician keeps all floors clean and buffed to a shine. Transports trash and soiled linen, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, Preferred; or 
  • equivalent required industrial cleaning experience, preferred
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations as needed 
  • Ability to work split shifts, early mornings and late evenings 
  • quires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Required Skills Familiarity with organization and functions of each hospital department
  • Responsible for dust mopping, wet mopping and buffing all floors 
  • Responsible for stripping and waxing floors as assigned 
  • Transports trash and linen to assigned areas twice daily or as requested 
  • Maintains cleanliness of ceiling light fixtures –
  • Sweep and mop assigned set of stairs and clean handrails –
  • Assist with trash pickup on grounds Maintain strict confidentiality regarding any patient information –
  • Must have knowledge of, and be capable of handling regulated medical waste Assist on all hospital floors and off-site locations as needed Functional Demands –
  • Work requires physical ability as walking, standing, sitting, moving intermittently throughout the day Bending, stretching, lifting, and being on knees required Occasional lifting of up to 35 pounds –
  • Must be able to climb a ladder –
  • Stair climbing required –
  • Unpleasant and odors are part of the daily scenario –
  • Risk of exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials –
  • Reading and writing required regularly to follow job description
