Position Summary:

The Director manages the overall operations of Perioperative Services.  This position directs the staff and programs of the OR, Recovery Room and Same Day Surgery, develops and introduces approved standards and guidelines for services, ensures the quality of care for patients, oversees the activities of the clinical unit and assigned staff, collaborates with the Manager/Director on issues, supervises, directs, coaches, and mentors staff while ensuring the quality of care. 

Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical,
administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
- Develops and implements projects to improve workflow.
- Mentor/coach staff and preceptors
- Maintains facility equipment, supplies, and work areas.
- Orient new employees as needed
- Ensures regulatory requirements are met
- Develops budget planning, expense monitoring, and staffing productivity.
- Provides clinical assistance/consultation as needed to ensure patient care/flow.
- Educates staff on new policies, procedures, and equipment.
- Sets goals and prescribes appropriate nursing interventions to meet the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of patients
- Evaluates patient care outcomes
- Collaborates with physicians and other hospital employees

Bachelor’s degree is required.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. 
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an OR setting required.
- Minimum 3 years of management experience required

Basic Life Support (BLS)
ACLS Certification - 90 days to obtain
PALS Certification - 90 days to obtain
Required Skills
- Current/active NC RN license or compact RN license
