Summary:

Supervises the daily operations of the Supply Chain department to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.

Minimum Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, Required 

  • Associate’s degree, Preferred

Required Skills:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

  • Healthcare purchasing / materials experience, Preferred

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize work as needed based on urgency and turnaround time. –

  • Ability to make sound judgments. 

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with developing specific department goals, standards and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.

  • Leads staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management.

  • Supervises daily functions of Supply Chain including:

Ordering supplies from authorized sources

Corrects ordering errors

Expediting

Authorizes substitutes in case of shortages

Maintains item master, adds and deletes

Authorizes supply invoice changes

Reviews and updates patient charge code master, adds charges as needed

Recommends supply changes to maintain contract compliance

Accurate and cost-effective shipping (FedEx, UPS, US Mail)

Compares packing slips with receiving, reports errors

Logs incoming shipments

Assists in stocking and delivery of supplies and equipment

Other duties as assigned

Supervises the Supply Chain staff that have direct duties at Clark Regional Medical Center

Supervises all staff in absence of Director

Completes periodic rotation at Bourbon Community Hospital, to be aware of any needs and assist staffing as needed.

  • Delegates duties as appropriate and as needed to assure the efficient operation of the department

  • Monitors department budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts and vendor relations.

  • Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitors usage and oversees proper working order and/or stock supplies

  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.

  • Ensures department stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care.

Leadership Functions:

  • Is primary point of contact at Clark Regional Medical Center, Primary Supervisor of staff and supports Bourbon Community Hospital as noted in functions above.

  • Must be able to delegate effectively, evaluate performance of staff, encourage cost-effective use of supplies and computer systems.
