Summary:

The Maintenance/HVAC Technician is responsible for providing a variety of maintenance services including installing, repairing, inspecting maintaining, and troubleshooting all mechanical equipment in accordance with hospital standards and policies. This position also maintains heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, operates and maintains automation systems, and performs preventative maintenance while assisting with other maintenance functions as necessary. Operates under limited supervision. 

Required Skills: Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, tests, inspects and repairs all department related mechanical devices, equipment, and tools such as boilers, air conditioning system, air handling system, vacuum system, pneumatic tube system, etc.

  • On Call requirements, must be able to participate in after hours on call rotation. 
  • Carries out safety procedures to insure patient, staff and visitor safety. –
  • Inventories and orders supplies to maintain appropriate stock levels without excessive inventory. –
  • Receives, inspects and stocks supplies on a timely basis.
  • Performs maintenance duties and major repairs and monitors to meet hospital maintenance and repairs for the HVAC systems, main boiler systems, electric/steam generators, heat pumps, air compressors, pressure reducing stations, refrigeration equipment, CO2 systems, and air conditioning.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment assigned. Estimates job costs to assure projects are accomplished within approved budget. –
  • Maintains all repair and maintenance records and keeps all blue prints updated. –
  • Performs all duties as listed on the daily duty sheet.
  • Nominates and monitors hospital natural gas usage. 
  • Monitors HVAC computer and adjusts parameters on equipment for comfort and efficiency. 
  • Maintains, operates and repairs HVAC systems at clinic. –
  • Follows necessary procedures for changing medical gases. Writes and updates policies and procedures for HVAC utility.
  • Performs air balance checks

Minimum Qualification-                

  • High School diploma - required plus 18 months vocation/specialized training in applicable mechanics, heating, blueprint reading, refrigeration, and other field related work.
  • Minimum Work Experience - 3 years of HVAC experience
  • HVAC certification - required
  • Proficient computer skills. Exceptional customer service skills. Proficient and accurate data entry skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize work as needed based on urgency and turnaround time. Ability to make sound judgments. Ability to remain patient during long periods of telephonic hold times.
  • Other duties as assigned as necessary and may vary at times, as needed, by your immediate supervisor or as directed by the company
