The Polysomnographic Staff Technician performs comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, and associated interventions under the general supervision of a Polysomnographic Technologist and/or the department managers.

Follows established policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information.

Willing and able to demonstrate appropriate core competencies annually or as requested.

Review patient history, physical information, medications, procedure request, and study protocol. Complete and verify all patient information documentation.

Explain the procedure and orient the patient to the sleep center.

Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments, if necessary.

Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.

Perform appropriate physiological calibrations to ensure proper signals and make adjustments, if necessary.

Performs routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting.

Follow procedural protocols to ensure collection of appropriate data.

Follow "lights out" procedures to establish and document baseline values.

Perform polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free and make adjustments, if necessary.

Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.

Implement appropriate interventions.

Follow "lights on" procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process.

Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines.

Assist with scoring clinical events with center specific protocols.

Assist with the generation of accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.

Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.

Perform routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluation.

Demonstrate self-directed learning and participates in continuing education by attendance at scheduled meetings and in-services.

Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Support the culture of service excellence throughout the organization.

Actively seek ways to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and participate in professional development opportunities.

Perform routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluation.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Completes annual educational requirements.

Understands and adheres to Bell's compliance standards as they appear in Bell's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Minimum Education Minimum: Associate Degree in Applied Science or 6 months work experience in a sleep lab or related field.

Required Skills Required:- Maintains current BLS certification.

Certifications: X Basic Life Support (BLS)
