Position Summary:

Performs various MRI procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice of a MRI technologist.

Reports to: Director of Medical Imaging

FLSA:  Non-exempt  

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education
X Associate’s degree Radiologic Technology Preferred-or-
Minimum Education
X Graduate of a Program Radiologic Technology Required
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required Skills
Basic Life Support (BCLA) within 30 days of hire
American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) R.T. (R) required, (MR) preferred.
AZ. MRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist - Valid Certificate present at facility on date of hire.
Must have 2 years additional training in MRI required on hire
Minimum Work Experience
Minimum of two years experience in hospital setting.
Minimum Education
The technologist/hospital verifies and documents that technologists who perform MRI examinations participate in ongoing eduication that includes annual training on safe practices in the MRI environment, including the following:
Patient screening criteria that addresses ferromagnetic items, medical implants and devices and risk for nephrogenic systematic fibrosis (NSF)
Proper patient positioning and activities to avoid burns
Equipment and supplies that have been determined to be acceptable for use in the MRI environment (MR safe or MR conditional)
MRI safety response procedures for patient who require urgent or emergent medical care
MRI equipment shutdown procedures
Patient hearing protection
Management of patients with claustrophobia, anxiety or emotional distress
Documentation and verification of this training - submitted by the technologist and verified by the hospital.
