Position Summary:

The RN Administrative Supervisor is responsible for the facilitation of a safe environment and a safe level of nursing care through coordination of interdepartmental services, patient placement, clinical support and information flow. In the absence of administrative management staff, the RN Administrative Supervisor coordinates contact with outside agencies, public relation activities, policy interpretation, disaster coordination and general problem solving.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current RN licensure in the state of Oregon
  • Two years of current nursing experience; nursing management/leadership preferred.
  • Obtain BLS within three months of hire and maintain as current.
  • Obtain ACLS , PALS  within six months of hire and maintain as current.
  • Obtain Non-Violent Crisis Intervention within six months of hire and maintain as current.
  • Current Telemetry certification
  • Bachelors of Science In Nursing preferred

Essential Job Functional:

  • Collects and correlates patient information via house-wide rounds for planning and coordination of services.  Written and verbal communications are accurately delivered and received in a timely, clear and appropriate manner.
  • Ensures departmental and house wide communication is shared throughout the facility.
  • Act as a liaison listening to and attempting to resolve multifaceted concerns of patients, families, staff and physicians that occur on the assigned shift.
  • Maintenance of a positive work and growth environment for all levels of staff by supporting planned change. 
  • Facilitates patient placement, bed control and care needs throughout WVMC.
  • Ability to safely and securely mix and secure medications during pharmacy closure.
  • Works in conjunction with the charge nurses to appropriate mitigate difficult situations and events.
  • Supports departments through collaboration and information sharing.
  • Knows and practices the prescribed philosophy, purpose, policies and standards of nursing care and clinical services provided using evidence-based practice.

  • Ability to manage, direct and implement the nursing care of patients presenting for care and is responsible for individual nursing practice including appropriate delegation competence and professional growth opportunities.

  • Works closely with staff, providers and the medical staff directors.

  • Maintains continuing quality assessment and improvement analysis and evaluation of patient care delivery and communicates with the CNO on the activities/issues in the department.

  • Participates as a member of incident command during response to any internal or external event or situation.

  • Manages and sustains efficient and effective staffing plan utilization standards of professional practice, while balancing the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding knowledge of all patient information (HIPAA) staff and confidential business.

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining healthy relationships with all staff members and providers.
