Job Summary

Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.LDRP competentStaff member demonstrates clinical competence and efficiency in care of the patient in labor, delivery, postpartum and newborn, as defined in hospital and departmental policies, professional practice, standards/guidelines , and the Law/rules regulating the practice of Nursing (AZ board of nursing website @www.AZBN.gov)

Required SkillsCompetency/TrainingX Basic Fetal Monitoring within 30 days of hire (if RN does not have other intermediate or advanced FM cert)X Fetal Monitoring competency--Meets requirements for labor and delivery MSE. Intermediate must be renewed every two (2) years.X NIH Stroke Scale completed within 90 daysRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:X Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)-American Heart Association required within 90 days of hireX Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) at time of hireXSTABLE -Preferred
Required Licenses[Arizona, United States] Registered Nurse
Compact or multi state licensure acceptedMust be a graduate of an accredited nursing program
