Position Summary

Performs routine clinical and administrative duties in support of assigned area or office.

Reports to: Department Manager

 

Responsibilities of the Position:

Under the supervision of physician or nurse, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments

Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given.

Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.

Maintains examination areas.

Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.

Escorts patients to exam rooms; take histories and vital signs; prepare patients for examination.

Assists providers in examination and treatment of patients, minor surgeries, and physicals.

Utilizes electronic medical software to record patient information in compliance with HIPAA/confidentiality guidelines.

Dispenses medication as directed by providers.

Collects and process lab specimens.

Performs glucose monitoring.

Communicates with patient, pharmacy, and physician inquiries within the scope of practice; involve provider as needed.

Performs accurate and timely input of data into EMR.

Other tasks and duties as assigned.


Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Completion of a Medical Assistant program is required.

 

Certifications/Licenses

Valid Certified Medical Assistant/Registered Medical Assistant certification is required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
